Dad goes potty after baby blows whistle...

Whilst browsing the paper earlier today I came across this story which made me chuckle. I had to share it with you guys as I thought you'd more than likely appreciate this one as well!

A baby playing with a telephone inadvertently called police to his house and to his "very surprised" father's marijuana-growing operation inside the dwelling, police said.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police responded to an emergency 911 call in which the caller hung up without saying a word. Constable Janelle Canning said officers entered the White Rock residence, after knocks at the door went unanswered.

The mystery caller was identified after officers observed an 11-month old child playing with a cordless phone, pressing buttons randomly. "It appears the baby called us."

The 29-year-old father was arrested after a routine search of the house uncovered 500 marijuana plants in two locked rooms on the main floor.

The baby boy was removed and later released into his mother's custody.

Why its great to be a guy...

Carrying on with the guy theme, I thought I'd share a couple of reasons as to why I'm quite happy to be a guy...

1. Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat.
2. A five day vacation requires only one suitcase.
3. You don't have to lug a bag of useful stuff around everywhere you go.
4. You can go to the bathroom with out a support group.
5. Your last name stays put.
6. The garage is all yours.
7. You can be showered and ready in 10 minutes.
8. Wedding plans take care of themselves.
9. Three pair of shoes are more than enough.
10. You can whip your shirt off on a hot day.
11. Car mechanics tell you the truth.
12. You don't give a rat's ass if someone notices your new haircut.
13. Gray hair and wrinkles add character.
14. Your pals can be trusted never to trap you with: "So...notice anything different?"
15. There is always a game on somewhere.

Got any other reasons why you think it's great to be a guy?

If I were a girl...

Let me first state this one is for the guys...

Have you ever been with your loved one and Beyonce's "If I were a Boy" song started playing on the radio? It's the kinda song that matter how good you've been to her, you kinda slip down and look the other way. You start feeling guilty for things you didn't even think of doing let alone actually do... She gets all quiet...

Beyonce (according to Megan, my fiance) has apparently stated that the song is not a man hater song. She's only referring to those boys who don't care about anyone else but themselves... Yeah right!!! Take a look at the first 2 verses:

If I were a boy
even just for a day
I'd roll out of bed in the morning
and throw on what I wanted and go

Drink beer with the guy
and chase after girls
I'd kick it with who I wanted
and I'd never get confronted for it
cause they stick up for me
(Check out the full song here)

Well guys, Whackhead has had enough! He's fighting back!!! You go Whackhead!!! Listen to his new song, "If I were a girl" and hear the greatest come back ever...

Police nab burglar in 'first Facebook arrest'

New Zealand police have arrested a burglar by using the popular social networking website Facebook to identify and track him down.

Calling it the "first Facebook arrest", Queenstown police in southern New Zealand posted security-camera footage and pictures showing the man's face as he tried to break into the safe of a local tavern on Monday.

"The offender was identified after a movie and images of him were displayed on Facebook. He was identified from members of the public viewing him on Facebook and also seeing him on TV after the Facebook images were displayed on the news," the police station said in a statement on its Facebook page.

Police said the unnamed, 21-year-old Queenstown native would appear in court on Wednesday.

Local media said the man got too hot while trying to break into the safe, took off his balaclava and revealed his face to a hidden security camera.

"He was a very silly young boy. The room is really small and it gets really hot in there at the best of times," the bar's assistant manager, Mel Kelly, was quoted as saying.

"Clearly, he didn't realise there was a video camera there until the last moment. He looks round and sees it and there's just a shocked look ... His face definitely drops."

Staff at the bar did not recognise the man, but Kelly suspected he was a former employee because of his knowledge of the property.

This is not the first time that Facebook, the world's largest online social network, has been used to track down criminals.

Porn offered as a university course

A university in Taiwan has opened a course to teach students how to appreciate and analyse porn movies.

The mass communication department of Providence University opened the course this semester, United Daily News reported.

To pass the course, students must give a 15-minute presentation in which they analyse an audience's psychological reaction to a porn clip from an academic perspective.

One worried student, who did not wish to be named, commented: "If I get a very good score in this course, I don't know how I'll explain it to my parents."

When registering for the voluntary course, students signed a paper agreeing that if the scenes were too explicit, they could choose to leave the classroom.

The teacher, assistant professor Chen Mingmei, said no students had ever left her class, but some would briefly cover their eyes during the stronger scenes. - Ananova.com

My question here is, if they’re allowing viewing of pornography to become not only public but also a requirement, how long is it going to be until our school kids are also having to view it for biology reasons???

A Confused Best Man

Time is running out for me and I need to make a plan… well, I don’t actually need to make a plan, I need to write a speech! But I have no idea where to go or what to do… I have a party to organize and I’m still lost in a world of ideas… I knew something needed to be done so I thought who better to turn to then my good friends from all over the globe…

I feel incredibly honored to be a best man, but I have no idea what I’m meant to do… apart from that, I have no idea what the role of the best man is in my own wedding… this is all exciting but also very confusing!!!

Were you ever apart of a bridal party? Got any advice as to what Ryan and I should do as best men?

The suffering spiritual life of Jesus – Mat. 4

Whilst reading through Mat 4, I was lead down an interesting train of thought and I was hoping you could in some way guide me.

I recently read a book written by a Catholic Scholar (I think he is) named Albert Nolan, titled “Jesus Today.” I highly recommend you get yourself a copy of this book. He challenged my understanding of Jesus in so many positive ways. It’s an encouraging read.

Anyway, whilst reading through his comments on Mat 4, he suggested that perhaps we’re not meant to read this passage in a literal sense. Perhaps Jesus did not go into a physical desert as so many believers and non-believers are lead to believe. Perhaps, Jesus rather entered a period, like many of us believers do, where he felt distant from God. A place where he felt as if his prayers were getting him no where.

This thought fascinated me… it allowed me to take on a fresh new perspective of this piece of writing. It excited me because I could finally relate myself to this piece of writing… finally it meant something to me.

It lead me to the question, “How did Mathew know about this journey that Jesus did and the things he said and did?” Perhaps he was with Mathew and he shared his frustrations with him? I don’t know…

This does not however rule out the question as to when Jesus would have shared these details. Did Jesus go into the desert and upon his return he shared his story or did he talk about his suffering spiritual life throughout the 40 days where he just couldn’t connect with God?

Which leads me to another question, could Jesus’ spiritual life actually take a knock? This lead me to ponder over Jesus’ well known words from the cross: “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” (Mat 27:46)... are you following my train of thought?

If God was silent, then perhaps Jesus is teaching us to handle the dry patch, the darkness of, the hole in our spiritual journeys…

Could it be that we’re focusing too much on the physical life of Jesus and in so doing be missing the very beauty of the spiritual life our Saviour?

The thing is that reading it from a metaphorical perspective allowed me to give a whole new meaning to the temptations of Jesus (Despite this, I in no way want to replace the true meaning from these temptations, hence my writing of this blog). These temptations suddenly became more real to me.

For example, v8 shares how satan took Jesus to the highest mountain and attempted to get Jesus to bow to him by showing him all the kingdoms of the world. Literally speaking, this has little, if any meaning to me personally. However, after thinking about it from a metaphorical perspective, I began to sense the beauty in Jesus resistance to this temptation. I began to understand the verse as if satan were offering me a CEO position of some well know company where I would believe that I am in fact the ruler of the world. You following me?

My question, after sharing this with you is: “Where do I draw the line in terms of taking the story of Jesus literally and metaphorically?”

Hope you can assist me in some way or another!!!

Thanks for the help…

A small dream came true!

Ok, so I’m a bit behind everyone else but as of today I have officially joined the console gaming community and I am now able to say that I own a PS2. In fact I can even join in on those gaming chats that guys seem to have around the fire… yeah for me!

I was chatting to a mate of mine who said he had two consoles and thought that I could put the second console to better use than what he was. I stood there in awe… people give away ps2’s???

I have always wanted my very own PS2 and now I can say I do!!! Thanks buddie, you know who you are!

I do however have a question…

What game(s) should I focus my eyes on?

Promise Yourself

Whilst rummaging though some old school photos, I came across this short note which was given to myself and the other students of the class of 2000. After reading it and being challenged again, I thought I’d share it with you all so that you to may be inspired for the year that lies ahead…

Promise yourself…

  • To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
  • To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
  • To be just as enthusiastic about the successes of others as you are about your own.
  • To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
  • To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
  • To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
  • To be to large for worry, to noble for anger and too strong for fear.
  • To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words but in great deeds.
  • To think only the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.

Wishing you all the best for the future. May you truly live all the days of your life.
